Homeless Connect is Council, state government, businesses and community groups provide free services (such as haircuts, clothes, shoes, accommodation information, medical and legal advice) to the homeless for a day.

Layle is a member of ZONTA.

Bounce Hair Body Beauty support a number of charitable and fundraising events in the community every year and specifically QIMR and their search for a cure for cancer.

This year Bounce have been involved with Shave for a Cure with the team from 93.7fm.

Also with a Hair Raising Cure day as well as in house morning teas, dinner events and recreational events such as the Brisbane Dragon boat race and the fun run.

Salon bounces to battle cancer

Cancer is a devastating disease that can strike anyone at any age.  In fact, two out of three Australians will be affected by cancer at some point in their life.

But Layle Ward and her team of stylists at Bounce Hair Body Beauty in Highgate Hill are working to cut those statistics down by being part of A Hair Raising Cure 2008 in support of cutting-edge cancer research.

Layle said she and her salon are taking part because she believes research is the key to beating cancer and other diseases.

“We’ve supported A Hair Raising Cure for the past two years because I think we need to do more research,” explained Layle.  “This is also a good opportunity for us to give back to the community.”

On Wednesday, May 28, Bounce is hosting a charity dinner at Arrivederci on Park Rd, Milton.  Silent auctions, raffles and lucky door prizes featuring the latest in hair care, body products and beauty services await those who come along.

“Hairdressers talk to hundreds of their clients every week,” she added.  “If we can encourage each one to donate just $10 towards A Hair Raising Cure, then that’s a lot of money supporting cancer research!”

Funds raised through A Hair Raising Cure 2008 will support cancer research at The Queensland Institute of Medical Research (QIMR).

QIMR is dedicated to achieving a world free from cancer by studying its causes and developing better diagnostics, treatments and vaccines.
